QuickBooks Desktop 2018 has been released with new and enhanced features that focuses to help CPAs and business firms accomplish their accounting tasks much efficiently. In this blog, we will review major features that has been offered by the newly released accounting application to its users.
Multi- Monitor Support
This feature tailors the business workload to improve productivity. You can toggle between individual QuickBooks windows on three connected screens/ monitors. To access this feature, you will need to click on the Menu bar in QuickBooks Desktop 2018, go to View and then click on Switch to Multi-monitor Mode.
To access Multi- monitor Mode through keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+M altogether. Once this setting is enabled, you will see Move Window to Next Monitor button on each open window in QuickBooks.
Past Due Stamp on Invoices
In an instance when Invoice has a Past Due balance, you will have a visual confirmation displayed on screen. It also allows you to optionally set the template preference and incorporate Past Due stamp on printed or emailed invoices. To enable this feature, click on Lists in the Menu bar, click on Templates and then select the template that needs to be modified.
On the template being selected, go to Templates drop down menu available in the lower left section and click on Edit Template. On the then appeared Basic Customization window, make sure to click on the checkbox associated to Print Past Due Stamp.
Payroll Liability Payment Reminder
When payroll liability payments are about to reach the scheduled payment due date, a red marker will be displayed on Pay Liabilities icon. This feature plays as a powerful tool that reminds you and your client about the upcoming payroll liability payments. To enable this feature, click on Menu bar, select Employees and then click on Payroll Taxes and Liabilities and Edit Payment Due Dates/ Methods.
This reminder mark that appear seven days prior to the scheduled payment date is displayed on Home page and help you to ensure that you do not miss out on any important payments.
Merge Vendor Records
The advanced Merge Vendor Records feature offers access to consolidated window that identifies and merge replicated records of vendors. You can Search and Sort information available for both active and inactive vendors and then merge duplicated entries thereafter. Up to four different vendors can be selected and one among all these can be designated as master record and then merge other data.
This feature is accessible in QuickBooks Desktop Accountant via menu bar. To access this feature click on the Accountant, click on Click Data Review and then click on Merge Vendors. In QuickBooks Enterprise file, when login as Admin or External Accountant, click on Company, then Accountant Tools and then select Merge Vendors.
Cash/Accrual Toggle on Reports
With this feature, you can toggle reports between Cash and Accrual Basis in one single click. Viewing reports in Cash Basis is helpful in tax planning whereas Accrual Basis is significant while making management decisions. This can be considered as one of the important reporting features being offered by QuickBooks Desktop 2018.
The feature is included in QuickBooks Pro, QuickBooks Premier, QuickBooks Accountant 2018 and QuickBooks Enterprise 18.0. It can be accessed by browsing the top left section of the displayed report and selecting Cash/ Accrual toggle in QuickBooks Desktop.
